Get the lift  you have been looking for

If you are like most people, you’ve noticed that as you age, your facial appearance changes.

While most people are aware of how repeated facial expressions (like smiling or frowning), sun exposure and hormonal changes may cause noticeable lines and wrinkles, many are not aware of the role that hyaluronic acid plays in the aging process.

As we age, our skin begins to lose hyaluronic acid, which is responsible for maintaining moisture in the skin. It is this moisture that helps hydrate the skin and creates facial volume. Hydration, volume, and elasticity (from collagen) result in a youthful, healthy-looking appearance.

The decreased production of hyaluronic acid and collagen over time causes a loss of firmness, volume and elasticity, often resulting in a sagging or more wrinkled facial appearance. Some common examples are the sagging you may see in your cheeks, lower face, jaw-line, and chin. Your skin may also appear thinner and look less smooth due to prominent lines and wrinkles.

There is a way to help replace lost volume, define facial contours and achieve a more youthful look with the Restylane family of injectable gels.

Restylane may help:

  • Improve the look of smile lines and lipstick lines
  • Smooth unwanted fine lines
  • Enhance lips
  • Restore jawline and chin contours
  • Reduce the look of crow’s feet around the eyes

Restylane replaces lost volume to smooth away wrinkles and define facial contours providing immediate results. Restylane is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own hyaluronic acid. Restylane can be used to visibly reduce moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds for a more youthful appearance.

Pre-treatment guidelines

  • Avoid using aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen),St. John’s wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
  • Talk with your doctor if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores. He or she may prescribe a medication to minimize recurrence.

Post-treatment checklist

  • Use cold compresses to reduce swelling.
  • Avoid touching the treated area for the first six hours following treatment, so you do not accidentally injure your skin while the area is numb. After six hours, the area can be gently washed with soap and water.
  • Avoid exposure to intense heat (e.g., sun lamp or sunbathing) or cold.
  • Reduce the risk of facial cold sore recurrence that could be caused by needle punctures. Talk with your doctor about medications that may minimize an outbreak.
  • Avoid taking aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements for one week after treatment. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
  • After your treatment, you might have swelling, redness, pain, itching, discolouration, and tenderness at the site of treatment. This will typically last less than a week. Contact your doctor if you experience side effects beyond 14 days. Remember to ask about follow-up appointments.
